Burst water pipe forces Mulgrave patients to move

SEVERAL patients had to be moved from their wards at The Valley Private Hospital in Mulgrave this morning after a cold water pipe burst in the roof, flooding the area between two wards.

MFB crews were called to the hospital , at the corner of Police and Gladstone roads, about 9.45 and brought the flooding under control within 15 minutes, an MFB spokesman said. There were no injuries.

Hospital chief executive Neil Henderson said the flooding was unrelated to a crane which fell on an unused building at the hospital last Friday.

Engineers declared the building safe having received ‘‘minimal structural damage’’ after the crane fell. No one was injured in that incident.
