Springvale South pair to face court on charges of assault, theft

TWO Springvale South men have been charged after a 15-year-old boy and a man were bashed and robbed in separate incidents in the Springvale station precinct early last Saturday.

Police say the boy had been waiting for his father to pick him up from the station about 1am when he was approached by two men.

One of the men allegedly demanded money from the boy, who was punched several times in the face by the other man.

The boy’s father intervened and one man fled with the boy’s bag. The other man is alleged to have taken photographs of the father’s car numberplates.

Soon after on Springvale Road, a 22-year-old man was approached by the same pair, assaulted and had his mobile phone stolen.

Police say the canine squad tracked the two assailants down to Springvale Rise Primary School.

A 19-year-old man and 24-year-old man will face Melbourne Magistrates Court on assault, theft and robbery charges.
