A HYDROPONIC cannabis setup sent a Noble Park town house up in flames on Monday morning.
The incident followed a fire in a former drug house in the suburb last week and a $300,000 cannabis bust late last month.
Dandenong Police spotted fire coming from the two-storey Corrigan Road unit about 2.40am on 10 December during a patrol.
The officers assisted nearby residents from their units as a precaution and CFA crews from Springvale, Dandenong, Noble Park and Frankston worked hard to contain the fire.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus worked around the building, but had limited success applying water to the heart of the blaze, on the upper floors.
They called in Dandenong Ladder Platform to assist, and it was able to direct water to where it was most needed.
They worked with police to minimise disturbing the building’s contents. No one appeared to be living in the newly-constructed units.
Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Nick Lamb said equipment in the drug house in Corrigan Road “contributed” to the blaze, which spread to two neighbouring units. He said the investigation was ongoing.

On 6 December the Star reported that a former Noble Park drug house went up in flames in a suspicious Buckley Street blaze on 3 December.
Police had executed search warrants at the property on 18 September, seizing 327 plants valued at more than $1 million and $30,000 in hydroponic equipment.
They also seized 191 cannabis plants valued at $300,000 and $15,000 in hydroponic equipment in a drug raid on a home in Kelvinside Road, Noble Park, on 20 November.
