Stud Road crash driver jailed

An unlicensed driver who killed his friend in a crash during a police pursuit in Dandenong North has been jailed for up to six years.

Carlos Lucky, 23, had stolen a car, drove up to 140 km/h and sped through two traffic lights when pursued by police in January. He had been drinking and smoking cannabis.

His 19-year-old friend and passenger, Luka Deng, was killed when Lucky swerved the car to avoid a turning truck and struck a roadside guard rail in Stud Road, near the Monash Freeway overpass. He will be eligible for parole in three and a half years.
