A SEVEN-goal haul to Moorabbin forward Tarek Moughanie destroyed Lyndale’s chance of recording its fourth win of the Southern Football League Division Two season at Widdop Crescent Reserve on Saturday.
Moughanie booted seven of his side’s 12 goals and cut the Pumas backline to shreds in an even four-quarter performance.
The injury-ridden Lyndale line-up had a genuine crack at the contest, but fell 16 points short of a much-needed victory.
At half-time the Pumas trailed by four goals, and kicked six goals to Moorabbin’s four in the second half to reduce the margin and give coach Paul Wilson a positive to work with before tackling Ashwood at home this weekend.
David Abbott and Edward McLean were Lyndale’s only multiple goal kickers, kicking three and two respectively.
Best for Lyndale on Saturday were Andrew Clappers, Chris Briggs, Christian Egan and Ragip Ragipi.
Caulfield v Parkmore
PARKMORE Pirates are sailing on thin ice in Division Two after copping another thrashing on Saturday.
The Pirates docked at Princes Park to tackle Caulfield, but were sunk by a 223-point defeat.
Parkmore booted three goals for the match, and compared to the previous week – when the Pirates failed to score a goal against Springvale Districts – there’s an argument that the team is moving in the right direction.
But baby steps just aren’t enough to salvage such a stained season.
Nathan Naidu booted two of Parkmore’s goals and Jayde Handfield kicked the other.
Handfield, along with team-mate Greg Dart, has been Parkmore’s shining light this year.
On Saturday the Pirates return to Wachter Reserve to host the Moorabbin Kangaroos.
