AN AFRICAN man was stabbed in the stomach after a confrontation with a group of Asian men in Springvale last week.
Police said that at 7.50pm on 17 January the 18-year-old man and a 25-year-old male friend were walking along Springvale Road, Springvale, near the National Australia Bank.
Police said a group of Asian men approached the two Africans and assaulted them.
During the confrontation, the 18-year-old was stabbed in the stomach.
The group of Asian men fled north along Springvale Road while the two African men went directly to Springvale Police Station to report the incident.
Police called an ambulance which transported the 18-year-old to the Alfred Hospital with what were non-life threatening injuries.
Police are now calling for witnesses to the attack to help further their investigation.
