DANDENONG National Seniors are burning up the bowling green each Friday night as part of the club’s exciting range of activities.
The club has attended twilight bowling evenings at the Burden Park Bowling Club every Friday night in February to learn how to play lawn bowls and enjoy a friendly and healthy sport.
Burden Park had invited sporting clubs, community groups and individuals from Greater Dandenong, including Dandenong National Seniors, to visit the bowling green for a better insight into lawn bowls.
Each bowling quartet consisted of an experienced bowler who captained – or skippered – the group, and three beginner or less experienced players.
Dandenong National Seniors entered two teams.
“One quickly learnt that you played with bowls not balls, that the white ball was the jack, that the pitch was the ‘rink’ and that the little round circle on the side of the bowl was its bias,” club secretary Lyn Bishop said. “All involved enjoyed the entire experience. The people at Burden Park Bowling Club were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful and their happy hour before and afterwards topped off a great night.”
