RAIL young guns are sharing their skills to grow interest in the industry.
Bombardier Transportation Australia (BTA) Dandenong employees Nhan Tran and Abhishant Pursawalkam helped to establish the Young Transport Professionals (YTP) Network in October last year.
YTP now has more than 200 members from 30 different organisations and last month held a tour at Bombardier.
“We felt that there was a need for an organisation willing to help the development of young rail professionals to step forward and take on the challenge,” Nhan said.
“We all agreed that, sadly, there is a general lack of advertising for the rail industry and information about careers in rail.
“Students need to know what a great industry this is to work in.
“YTP aims to bridge this gap and spread this message.
“This will in turn attract young talent.”
Nhan said the industry would also benefit from cross-organisational communication.
“YTP brings together people and retains talent within the industry.”
“The group is a means for exploring opportunities, knowledge and lessons learnt across the industry.
“This benefits everyone – the members, their respective employers, and ultimately the wider network.”
