Paramedics praise passerby

PARAMEDICS have praised a passerby who saved an elderly man from a house fire in Noble Park last week.
A 75-year-old Noble Park man became trapped in his house after fire erupted on the morning of Wednesday 17 September.
Paramedics arrived within eight minutes and found the two men outside the house.
Advanced life support paramedic Clare Lollback said the men appeared shaken.
“The 75-year-old man couldn’t get out of the house,” she said.
“The door was apparently deadlocked and he was trying to find the right key.
“Another man got into the house through the back door and helped the 75-year-old out.”
Ms Lollback said the men had not required a visit to hospital.
“Both men had inhaled a large amount of smoke and one had some singed head hair,” she said.
“We reassured the men as we assessed them – but they didn’t require further treatment.”
She said it had been a brave feat by the passerby.
“The man who went into the house was incredibly brave, risking his own safety to rescue the resident.”
