Police chase driver sought

A DRIVER of a stolen car is on the loose after he escaped a high-speed police pursuit in Dandenong last week.
Sergeant Peter Watson said on 6 January between 6.30am and 7am, police in three units tried to stop the driver of a car reported stolen from Seaford last month.
“The pursuit occurred mostly in Dandenong’s west, on side streets where the traffic was light,” he said. “The speeds reached during the pursuit weren’t super high, they varied from about 60 to 70 (km/h) on the streets up to 120 when the driver reached the Eastlink.”
Sgt Watson said the pursuit was called off after 12 minutes because of safety reasons.
“The driver was going fast, and our members weren’t prepared to go through a stop sign,” he said.
Police found the car a short time later abandoned in Scott Street, Dandenong.
Anyone with information on the driver is urged to contact Dandenong Police at 9767 7444.
