SET to help science-shy

ALEX Palazzolo from the Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) Forum Working Party is calling on organisations to participate as exhibitors to promote careers in science and related fields.
“There has been a significant decline in the number of secondary students taking up science and related subjects,” Mr Palazzolo said. He said the decline in students taking up science-related subjects was of concern and urged organisations to address the decline at the forum.
“The SET Industry Forum will provide secondary students and teachers and students with information about current, new and emerging careers and training pathways,” Mr Palazzolo said.
“We are targeting 300 students from across South East Melbourne.” Employers, industry associations, training organisations, apprenticeship centres and educational institutions can participate in the forum to be held on Wednesday 22 April at Kingston City Hall, 979 – 985 Nepean Highway, Moorabin.
