A good day all round

By Melissa Meehan
NORM and Essi Andrews celebrated 70 years of wedded bliss on Good Friday.
The Noble Park couple first met when Norm’s brother brought home some ladies from work.
“I said to her there and then, ‘I’m going to marry you’,” Norm said. “And I did.”
The pair married at St Lukes Church in Yorkshire, England, on Easter Monday in 1939 in the presence of friends and family.
This week they also invited friends and family to help them celebrate the milestone.
Granddaughter Julie Green said that two of the couple’s sons and their families joined in the celebrations and another son called from Scotland.
She said Norm and Essi came to Australia in 1963 and stayed in a homestead in Holmesglen for six months before moving to Dandenong Road.
