DRIVERS can enjoy safer and easier trips along Thompson Road at Bangholme with the first lanes of the $30 million upgrade now carrying traffic.
Member for Lyndhurst Tim Holding announced completion of the first stage works, which provide three lanes each way between EastLink and Dandenong-Frankston Road, and an upgraded three-lane roundabout at the Thompson Road/Dandenong-Frankston Road intersection.
“Opening of these new lanes is another important step towards improving the safety, access and efficiency of Melbourne’s road network in these fast growing suburbs.”
The Thompson Road upgrade at Bangholme and Carrum Downs is managed by VicRoads with BMD Constructions expected to complete works by the end of 2009.
