THE Ranger revival continued at Stud Road on Saturday night as Dandenong outgunned the Nunawading Spectres 113-100.
The result saw the hometown Rangers improve to a respectable 3-4 for the season, despite the continued absence of star swingman Vince Inglima (hamstring).
Dandenong led 94-89 after a three-quarter shootout, before tightening the screws on defence to concede just 11 points in the final term.
The high-scoring encounter made for some impressive individual numbers, not least of which being Dusty Jura’s 28 points and 17 rebounds.
The hard-working American made his way to the foul-line 19 times for the night, connecting on 14 attempts to go with seven-of-15 from the field.
His dominance in the paint was the perfect foil for the inside-outside game of Brent Hobba (31 points, six rebounds), while back-up forward Matt Witherden (18, 7) relished the extra minutes in Inglima’s absence.
Point guard David Godrey, buoyed by his game-winner against Knox the previous weekend, scored 11 points to go with seven assists.
The visiting Spectres, who are yet to break their duck this season, were led by star centre Brad Bridgewater (32, 10).
Dandenong is now sitting sixth in the SEABL East conference ahead of Saturday’s Anzac Day blockbuster against unbeaten Frankston from 7.30pm at Stud Road.
That game will follow the clash between Dandenong’s Lady Rangers and Launceston from 5.30pm.
The ladies fell just short against Nunawading on Saturday, going down 58-55 despite a spirited fourth-quarter rally.
First-year forward Catherine Guest (18, 10) and off-season recruit Megan Moody (16) made valuable contributions for the home side.
