TWO men are recovering from surgery after being stabbed in two separate attacks in Greater Dandenong over the weekend.
On Friday night a 20-year-old Sudanese male from Keilor Downs was stabbed outside a private function he attended at the Uni Bar in Springvale.
Detective Senior Constable Jess Phillips said the man was standing outside his car talking on his mobile phone when another man charged towards him from Queens Avenue. A friend sitting in the car went to his aid only to find he had been stabbed a number of times, twice to the stomach and once to the upper thigh. He was taken to The Alfred hospital where he had surgery.
During the stabbing, a car driving through a crowd in a nearby street was set upon by an attacker wielding a machete. Police are investigating whether the two incidents were related.
On the same night, while a Springvale divisional van was patrolling the Dandenong area, police came across a fight between men of African appearance in Mason Street.
Once police arrived the group of men left the scene, leaving a 20-year old Sudanese man from Lynbrook bleeding profusely. Police found that he’d been stabbed in his back and abdomen. He was taken to The Alfred hospital suffering multiple stab wounds and is in a stable condition after surgery.
