Bank workers get the credit

THIRTY students celebrated their graduation at Chisholm TAFE from a financial service apprenticeship and traineeship program (SbAT) in 19 different Bendigo Bank branches.
The South East Local Learning and Employment Network (South East LLEN) and Chisholm Institute hosted the 2010 Bendigo Bank goes ASbA! program graduation ceremony, which was attended by over 130 Bendigo Bank staff, parents and teachers.
South East LLEN launched the program two years ago and it has since tripled in size, paving the way for other SbATs in Local Government organisations and manufacturing industries.
Bendigo Bank Regional Manager Cora Clough praised the program.
“Traditionally we have had difficulty attracting youth to work in a bank, however this program has assisted the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank in succession planning for our future,” she said.
“It has also set the foundations for the students’ future employment by providing them real life skills and knowledge in the workforce.”
The Bendigo Bank and program partners, Frankston Mornington Peninsula LLEN, BGK LLEN, Youth Connect, Chisholm Institute and Apprenticeship Group Australia have worked together to ensuring the success of the School based Apprenticeship and Traineeship program through its second stage roll out in 2009/2010.
