THE Greater Dandenong Council is encouraging residents make nominations for next year’s Australia Day Awards. The awards recognise the exceptional contribution of people who make a positive difference to their community.
Mayor Jim Memeti said the valuable and positive contribution individuals made to the Greater Dandenong community deserved to be recognised.
“The Greater Dandenong Australia Day Awards form part of the council’s Australia Day festivities,” he said. “They provide a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate the often unsung members of our local community who work tirelessly to make our city a better place to live.”
Award categories include Young Citizen of the Year for people aged 25 and under, Citizen of the Year for ages 26-plus, Good Neighbour of the Year and Non-Resident of the Year.
