THE Noble Park second XI has notched its first win for the year in the only game played by the club this round.
With weather forcing the others to wait another week, the seconds were able to get on and secure their first win for the season.
Having won the toss and electing to bat, Noble Park got off to a solid start, with openers Andrew O’Meara (32) and Darren Seccull (29) able to take the team to 62 for the loss of the first wicket.
Vijay Maharaj kept going from where they left off, top scoring with 48 not out to guide the seconds to 5/157 from their allotted overs.
In reply Altona was bowled out for 143 with Noble Park’s Sean Schubert among the best of the bowlers with 3/14, supported by the spin trio of Johann Wise (3/29), Lyle D’Rozario (2/21) and Jake Richardson (1/8).
Noble Park will play Broadmeadows this week in the first two-dayer of the season.
