A MAN was stabbed several times in the back during an assault in Dandenong on Saturday morning.
Investigators were told the 30-year-old Doveton man was walking through a park in Lonsdale Street about 1.40am when he approached two females.
Police said the man was then approached by a group of youths and an argument started that turned physical.
During the altercation, the man was stabbed.
He was taken to The Alfred hospital where he underwent surgery for a punctured lung. He remains in intensive care in an unstable condition.
Police said several people have assisted detectives with their inquiries but no one had been taken into custody by Tuesday.
