PEOPLE recovering from severe mental illness have put their heads together to create an artistic treat.
Creative Minds is an exhibition by participants of Eastern Regions Mental Health Association (ERMHA) living in Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia.
Photography, paintings, drawings, postcards and pottery will go on display at the Old Berwick Cheese Factory from Wednesday, 25 October.
ERMHA senior support worker and event organiser Aly Madden said the show’s title aptly summed up the treats on offer.
“Being involved in art allows participants to express their emotions as well as tap into their creative selves,” she said.
“This is a way of developing a positive and rewarding focus following the many difficulties and brave struggle against bouts of the at-times crippling effects of severe mental illness.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the show, which will include come-and-try workshops, initiative games and tours of the grounds, as well as a sausage sizzle.
The show opens from 11am to 4pm on Wednesday and runs from 11am to 3pm on Thursday, 26 and Friday, 27 October.
Entry is by gold coin donation at the Old Berwick Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick.
