THE Noble Park Cricket Club first XI suffered its first defeat for the season when it was dismissed for 129 well short of Caulfield’s total of 242 in their Victorian Sub District Cricket Association match.
With Damien Fleming absent, Noble Park was effectively 1/0 and it didn’t get much better with the team slumping to 3/26 after 20 overs with Andrew Brown and Gavin Hurley out for 9 each and Rod Douthie gone for 2.
When Andrew O’Meara (9) was dismissed nine overs later the score had trickled to 4/37.
Jon Stones and Paul Hill seemed to get the innings back on track, adding 28 before Hill was caught in the last over before tea for 24, with Noble Park a sorry 6/65 at the break.
Stones and Mark Rendle pressed on adding an even 50 runs before Rendle departed for 26.
Stones (34) joined Rendle in the sheds shortly after with the total on 115.
A further 14 runs were added before Paul McDonald (7) and Andrew Berman (6) were dismissed with the total on 129.
The second XI was unable to defend its total of 124 with Caulfield reaching 9/175 in its innings.
David Kennedy, taking 3/38 off 19 overs, and Kim Fitzpatrick (2/26 off 20) were the best of the bowlers.
The third XI won its second game for the season, dismissing Caulfield for 126 well short of Noble Park’s total of 264.
Andrew Love (4/28), Aaron Appleby (3/11) and Matt Ferguson (2/21) were the wicket takers.
The fourth XI just missed out on a draw being dismissed with nine deliveries left after their match against Caulfield starting late due to the rain on Friday and Saturday morning.
Jake D’Atri top scored with 38 with support from Lenny Vanderwerff (25) and Daniel Kirby (23).
