Bad week for bowlers

NOBLE Park’s Royal Victorian Bowls Association (RVBA) and Victorian Ladies’ Bowls Association (VLBA) pennant teams had disappointing days on the greens, with the club’s RVBA fifth side the only winner in round 13.
The RVBA Division Three side was beaten by a good Clayton combination, with John Heathcote’s rink of Peter Andrews, Martin Murphy and Jim McCallum the only winners.
With Berwick’s loss to Cranbourne RSL, Noble Park still hangs on to top spot in the section by only three points.
The next five weeks will be interesting to see which team will be the section premier, with Noble Park facing Cranbourne (fourth), Parkdale (sixth), Dandenong RSL Rec (eighth), Pakenham (seventh) and Berwick (second).
Berwick will play Burden Park (ninth), Clayton (fifth), Cranbourne (fourth), Parkdale (sixth) and Noble Park (first), and with Cranbourne RSL only 18 points away in third spot the fixture makes it a close finish indeed.
The ladies A1 team was beaten by a very professional outfit in Burden Park.
