Candidate takes VEC to court

Shaun Inguanzo
A FORMER candidate for the Noble Park Ward in last year’s Greater Dandenong council elections is taking the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) to the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in February.
Geraldine Gonsalvez is listed on the court’s civil registry for an application hearing on 16 February in relation to a ‘miscellaneous complaint’ against the VEC.
Ms Gonsalvez ran for election to the City of Greater Dandenong in November.
She has also been a spokesperson for lobbying group Residents Against Toxic Waste In the South East (RATWISE), which for 14 years has been fighting to stop hazardous waste being deposited into the Lyndhurst Landfill.
Star was unable to reach Ms Gonsalvez for comment before deadline.
