I HAVE sent letters with photographs to our TV stations regarding the environmental vandalism that is happening at Fotheringham Reserve, Dandenong, hoping to get this to air.
I also rang news departments at GTV9 and HSV7.
I spoke to the people at Today Tonight and was told it was not of national interest what was happening to our trees, but time was given to how much water was in snags on the show.
Now, I ask you, am I crazy?
Do I really need counselling and go to see a shrink?
I thought these beautiful trees were worth fighting for.
The 11th hour has passed, it is now five to 12 and theys are going to rip the trees out.
This is all because of bad planning. You see, the people who are doing this don’t live in the district.
If this is not worth saving, then I am nuts.
Dieter Keller,
Dandenong.
“CR John Kelly again ‘snubbed’ in a political game played by Labor-inclined councillors”.
This is what Niam Melham stated last week in Star.
Peter Brown dismissed the comment as “sour grapes”, or words to that effect.
When, oh when, are these councillors going to forget about the Labor Party and remember they are supposed to be representing the ratepayers of Greater Dandenong.
John Kelly deserved the mayor’s role this year, he has waited long enough.
Peter should have waited for one more year.
And, Peter, you knew you had the job when you and I spoke outside the polling booth on Saturday. Not the best way to keep friends and ratepayers who have supported you.
Come on councillors, leave these childish games where they belong, in your childhood.
Give this bloke a fair go! Or is that not possible in today’s “labour party”?
Bill Graham,
Keysborough.
I THANK each and every one of you for putting your good faith and trust in me, and for supporting me with your vote in the recent 2005 City of Greater Dandenong Council elections.
Unlike the information wrongly produced three days before the election, via letters to the editor and editorials in certain community newspapers, I always did have only one vote card/one pamphlet and one set of registered preferences.
Considering all said and done, I think we did well!
I enjoyed door knocking in Noble Park and took pleasure in talking to and meeting you, and seeing some very beautiful gardens.
Noble Park is truly a beautiful suburb of Greater Dandenong with a very rich cosmopolitan community.
The things I was able to share with some of you, and some of my ideas that were welcomed by you, can still be pursued.
There is the continuing effort to eradicate or reduce the tolls on the east link by making the tolls resident free, with big business and industry wearing the cost because they stand to gain more.
That is a campaign we can continue to put to the Government before a final agreement is set in concrete.
I take this opportunity to wish you all in the city a safe, joyous, holy and festive season with your families.
Thanks also to Bill Irvine and all the VEC electoral staff administering the Election in Greater Dandenong.
Geraldine Gonsalvez,
Noble Park Ward candidate.
I WOULD like to congratulate the City of Casey and various churches in the local community for their wonderful Christmas carols presentation on Saturday at Narre Warren South P-12 College gymnasium.
It was a professional concert and a fantastic way to spread the message of Christmas.
I was, however, disappointed by the lack of manners shown by the many children present, who talked, laughed and jumped around throughout the entire concert.
I’m sure a lot of time and effort was put in by the performers, some of whom found themselves having to battle with bad manners.
Nevertheless, it was a truly enjoyable evening.
Julie Woodruff,
Torquay
