GREATER Dandenong community groups are joining writers and directors to produce 10-minute plays to be performed at the Drum Theatre later this month. The Short + Sweet festival is regarded as the biggest short play festival in the world and organiser Kimberley Grigg said this year marked the first time the festival had branched out into Dandenong.
Ms Grigg said the goal was to unite community groups and place them on centre stage before residents. Ten groups are rehearsing for the 22 and 23 November festival.
Bookings can be made by calling the Drum Theatre on 9771 6666. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 concession.
The Drum is on the corner of Lonsdale and Walker Streets in Dandenong.
