Police warning after breakins

By Sarah Schwager
A SPATE of overnight burglaries in Dandenong businesses last week has sent a call for people to be aware of strangers around the workplace.
Detective Acting Sergeant Des Vis at Dandenong Police said businesses had to be aware of their own security.
“We have had some incidences where there may have been some sort of suspicious activity the day before the robbery,” Det Act Sgt Vis said.
“People need to be on the lookout for people acting suspiciously in their store.”
Burglaries and thefts from businesses reported last week include:
•Power tools and hand tools valued at $4500 and a can of petrol worth $90 were stolen from Incoll Project Management in Redgum Drive, Dandenong South between 4.30pm on Tuesday, 25 October and 6am on Wednesday, 26 October.
Police said the offenders gained entry to shipping containers stored at the business using bolt cutters to cut the lock.
• Several garden statues, ornaments, a lawn mower and numerous letterbox fittings and numbers were stolen from Australian Garden Ornaments on Stud Road, Dandenong, between 2 September and 25 October while the owner was away.
•Damage to machinery has interrupted production at a factory on Sinclair Road, Dandenong after offenders broke into the factory between 1pm on 21 October and 5am on 24 October.
Police said the offenders had tampered with electric wires to a machine used to produce a variety of paper products.
Anyone with information on any of these burglaries to contact Dandenong CIU on 9767 7478.
