STUDENTS’ work was stolen along with three classroom computers when thieves targeted Keysborough’s Maralinga Primary School this week.
The school survived the two-week holiday period unscathed, but on Tuesday new principal Peter Gray was shocked to find thieves had smashed through a classroom window and stolen its computers overnight.
Contained on the computers was the work of grade one and two students, Mr Gray said.
“Someone is not showing much consideration for the learning opportunities of children here at Maralinga,” he said. “The students then had to be out of the room all morning because police were in there doing forensic testing.
“Then we had to clean up the room and call a glazier in.
“Half of the students’ day was written off.”
Mr Gray said police found traces of blood and a cigarette which would provide DNA evidence to help identify the culprits.
He said the computers would be replaced through the school’s insurance policy.
