THE Eastern Football League Division One premiership was won by minor premiers Vermont Eagles, beating the Donvale Magpies by nine points at Bayswater Oval on Saturday.
After thrashing the Noble Park Bulls in the first final, the Eagles had a week’s break before tackling the confident Magpies, a team relatively fresh after thumping the lacklustre Bulls in the preliminary final.
But the benefit of the week’s break was evident after halftime as Vermont overcame a onepoint deficit to wrestle back the lead and take home the flag.
