Shower swap more friendly

GREATER Dandenong residents can now swap their old showerheads for the water-saving variety at their local post office.
Australia Post outlets in Dandenong South and Keysborough are taking part in the program along with South East Water to allow residents to make the swap.
The Dandenong South location is on Greens Road, while the Keysborough one is in Parkmore Shopping Centre.
South East Water’s acting chief executive officer, Kate Vinot, said there had been an overwhelming demand from residents to exchange their showerheads for water-efficient models.
“We’re making it even easier for our customers to exchange their old showerheads, especially for those who are unable to do so throughout the working week,” Ms Vinot said.
“We have already exchanged more than 50,000 showerheads and we aim to exchange another 32,000 by the end of June.”
Residents need to follow these steps to exchange their showerhead at a post office:
• Register online at www.southeastwater.com.au/showerheads;
• Take a completed registration form, the old showerhead and a copy of their water bill to the nearest participating Australia Post outlet;
• Then make the exchange – it’s free.
Ms Vinot said that 30 per cent of household water was used in the bathroom, meaning the shower was a great place for families to focus on saving water.
Showerheads can also be exchanged from Monday to Friday at local councils participating in the program and South East Water’s head office, at 20 Corporate Drive, Heatherton.
