DANDENONG North Senior Citizens Club marked its 31st birthday by making one of its longest serving contributors a life member.
At a celebration held at the Dandenong North Seniors Hall in Menzies Avenue, Dandenong North, the club honoured stalwart Edris Dorrity with a life membership – something that she told Star was totally unexpected. “I thought the life membership was for someone else. But it was a great day, just fantastic,” Ms Dorrity said.
About 100 senior citizens enjoyed a three-course meal for $7 – or so they thought, until the club gave each of them a $5 rebate as a special surprise. The menu contained a delicious minestrone soup for entrée, either roast lamb or pork with vegetables for main, and a choice of apple pie orpavlova for dessert. Greater Dandenong mayor John Kelly formally wished the club a happy birthday.
