RECYCLE bins will be installed at two of Dandenong’s busiest sites thanks to $32,000 in State Government grants.
Sustainability Victoria has given the City of Greater Dandenong $18,000 to install recycle bins at Dandenong Basketball Stadium, and $14,000 for similar bins at Dandenong Market.
The basketball stadium’s high volume of visitors means a lot of drink bottles and cans are binned on site, but the City of Greater Dandenong is hoping the recycle bins will encourage visitors to recycle away from home.
Mayor Youhourn Chea welcomed the grants and said the council was committed to recycling.
“The council has a dedicated litter prevention taskforce which addresses litter concerns within our city,” he said.
“ The taskforce undertakes activities which involve council staff, councillors, people from local business and community groups, organisations and environment groups.”
Mr Chea said the grants would enhance the council’s commitment to reduce litter in our city by recycling.”
