CONNECT East has released images from a November flight over the EastLink project showing that it is on target for a mid-2008 opening date.
The images of the tollway’s path through the Greater Dandenong district show that asphalting works are truly under way.
The Monash Freeway interchange is also nearing completion and toll gates have been erected.
Premier John Brumby confirmed that the tollway was on track for a mid-2008 opening when he opened the Dandenong Bypass on Sunday.
“EastLink has been a massive success for Victoria and a mid-2008 opening will deliver an anticipated $15 billion boost to our economy even earlier,” he said.
“The growing industrial areas of Dandenong are already booming largely in anticipation of EastLink and will today benefit further from improved connectivity via the toll-free Dandenong Bypass,” he said.
