ARTIST Elisabeth Williams will exhibit her works in Dandenong this month.
Williams’ work is reminiscent of the great portrait painters of the early 1920s deco period, incorporating direct narrative from circumstances past and present.
They feature elegance interwoven with strong compositional elements, vibrant colour and characters laced with intrigue. Williams’ masterful use of pastel on painted paper are all captivating ingredients of these celebrated works.
She tells the stories of people in everyday settings, circumstances and times, and offers the viewer her reflections on such diverse subjects as friendship, children, relationships, work, shopping and gardening. The works have a stage-like perspective with strong contrasting tones, like snapshots from a play.
All works are for sale.
Her Facets exhibition is on at the Walker Street Gallery, corner of Walker and Robinson streets, Dandenong.
It is open 11am to 5pm on weekdays and 11am to 3pm on Saturdays.
