DANDENONG hip-hop groups Hi Voltage and Street Funk Krew have danced their way to a championship showdown in Sydney.
But to afford to go the hip-hop finals, called Looze Control, the two groups must first work together in a joint fundraiser.
Phaze, a committee of the City of Greater Dandenong Youth Services Team, is holding a benefit event to help Hi Voltage and Street Funk Krew in their quest for success.
A dance party will be held on Saturday 16 August at The Castle, Hemmings Park, in Dandenong from 7pm.
City of Greater Dandenong senior youth activities service worker Nick Karlas said the event was a great chance for young people in Greater Dandenong to support the two local groups.
Both groups will perform live and will be joined on stage by Funk-a-licious, X-static, Destruct, and A-MC’s.
MC Shazet, who is Melbourne’s leading beatbox champion and the winner of this year’s Dandenong Urban Talent Quest, will be a special guest at the event.
Mr Karlas said dance battles would be held throughout the night and there would be lots of prizes.
He said the fully-supervised event was free of alcohol, drugs, and smoking.
Entry is $8 and glow sticks and food will be on sale at the venue.
