GREATER Dandenong women had the chance to learn about becoming councillors via a workshop run by the council.
The Women Matter in Local Democracies workshop was held at the council’s Springvale office and was aimed at women from ethnic backgrounds.
Facilitated by Jenny Ashy for the Women’s Participation in Local Government Coalition and funded by the Victorian Government, the workshop included training and seminars on the difference women can make as citizens. The workshop also identified the pathways available for women wanting to become elected representatives or community leaders.
City of Greater Dandenong governance and customer service manager June Ernst said that 22 participants took part.
