TWO heads are better than one.
That’s the belief of City of Greater Dandenong’s only husband and wife candidates Loretta and James Davis.
While not running in the same wards, the couple are among nine candidates hoping to win a seat on council.
Mrs Davis said she made the decision for Red Gum a little over a year ago.
“I noticed that a lot of things I thought council should address weren’t being done,” Mrs Davis said. “So I asked James to help me out.”
Mr Davis has previously run for council at Greater Dandenong.
“I tried my luck with the Lyndale Ward in 2005 but wasn’t successful,” Mr Davis said.
“So I was more than happy to help Loretta with the campaign.”
Just before the deadline to become a candidate James had a change of heart and put his name forward for Lightwood.
“I could see all the ideas that Loretta had and wanted to make sure the whole of Greater Dandenong could have the same experience,” Mr Davis said. “And besides two heads are better than one.”
The couple describe themselves like any other couple.
“We both have spent our lives in Dandenong, we went to school here and we fell in love here,” Mrs Davis said.
“We just want to be able to improve the community.”
