RESIDENTS young and old showed pride in their country joining the Australia Day celebrations taking place throughout Dandenong.
From Australia Day breakfasts to a concert at Dandenong Park, residents were treated to a variety of entertainment on display to mark the special day in Australia’s history.
Mayor Pinar Yesil said Australia Day was an important date for all Australians.
“Australia Day is not only a celebration of our grand history, it is also a celebration of the country we live in today,” she said.
“Today we come together as a nation and celebrate what it means to be an Australian.”
Others chose to enjoy a meal with friends at the Noble Park RSL.
Secretary Alf Goldberg said it was a wonderful day to celebrate the nation.
“We have the barbecue going, flags waving and the local immigrant group is going to sing the national anthem,” he said.
“It’s just a great day.”
