Pool is no oasis in heat

DANDENONG residents had extra reasons to swelter in last week’s heatwave when the Oasis swimming pool and gym had to close its doors.
A power failure in Greater Dandenong and Casey affected the centre, as well as thousands of houses in the area, last Thursday. Damage to a fuse at the pool left it closed until noon on Friday.
Doors were re-opened Friday afternoon, once the power was restored.
Residents were left disappointed when they were unable to cool off in some of the hottest conditions Melbourne had ever experienced.
Centre manager Adam Steere said staff at Oasis did a great job and had been diverting patrons to the Noble Park pool.
“It was a frustrating couple of days,” Mr Steere said. “It was set to be some of our biggest days for the year.”
