PHOTOS published in a local newspaper have led to the arrest of a Dandenong man in relation to two jewellery thefts.
Police released the photos to the media in hope that someone would recognise the thief, who allegedly stole $5000 from a Dandenong store in February.
Acting Detective Sergeant Russell Church said that after reading the story in the newspapers a resident recognised the man and contacted police.
The 32-year-old also stole $8000 from another jewellery store last Thursday.
He was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 12 June 2009.
