THE builders of ConnectEast and EastLink were recognised with three awards at this year’s Architectural and Design Excellence in the South East awards, held by South East Development (Melbourne) on March 26.
South East Development is a federally funded organisation that works with business, government and the community to promote sustainable regional development.
The awards were judged by a distinguished panel of architectural experts, including Professor Catherine Bull, John Gollings and Professor Shane Murray.
In a ceremony at the McClelland Gallery, ConnectEast managing director John Gardiner accepted three awards on behalf of ConnectEast and EastLink including the Chairman’s Premier Award for ‘a project that is outstanding in its design, form and function and which makes a significant contribution to the south-east region’s aesthetic’.
In accepting the award, Mr Gardiner paid tribute to the ConnectEast team as well as EastLink’s designers Wood Marsh Architects and Tract Landscaping, the co-ordinators of the public artworks JK Fasham Pty Ltd and SEITA.
