Reform policy released

MAYOR Pinar Yesil has released the Process of Consideration for her Accessibility, Transparency and Accountability (ATA) Reform Charter.
On Thursday a discussion paper will be distributed to all councillors before a councillor briefing session on Monday 20 April.
The report and recommendation of the ATA Reform and Councillor Allowances from council officers will be presented to council on Monday 11 May and then put on public exhibition and seek submissions from the public which will close on Friday 12 June.
Cr Yesil said she would welcome councillor input. “That is why the motion specifically directs councillors to be consulted,” she said. “I assume a great deal of the time of the councillor briefing session on the 20th will be taken up discussing technical matters arising from the discussion paper. By technical, I mean predominantly implementation issues such as cost and feasibility.”
She has asked CEO John Bennie to give councillors as much time as they need to voice their views and opinions at the meeting.
Council is expected to consider final reports on both issues and will vote on each on Monday 13 July.
