As part of Responsible Gambling Awareness Week, the employee education program was launched at Jayco Caravans in Dandenong South.
Gaming Minister Tony Robinson said the initiative was a fitting start to the week.
“Responsible Gambling Awareness Week brings industry, local government and the community sector together to ensure gambling in Victoria is a safe and enjoyable recreation activity,” Mr Robinson said.
“Through this employee education program, VECCI will provide responsible gambling resources to its 15,000 members across the state through newsletters, websites, emails and CEO messages to be distributed to their employees.”
He said that no other state in the world had spent as much on responsible gambling as Victoria.
Mayor Pinar Yesil said the program was a chance to encourage the community to take power over their gambling.
She said City of Greater Dandenong residents spent roughly $110 million a year on gambling.
“The impacts affect all of the community,” Cr Yesil said.
The theme of this year’s Responsible Gambling Awareness Week is knowledge, balance and control. If you are concerned about your gambling or want to know more, call Gambler’s Help Services on 1800 858 858 for a free, confidential discussion.
