RESIDENTS and visitors to central Dandenong are one step closer to enjoying better access to the main shopping precinct, with work starting on Thursday on the $29.5 million George Street Bridge.
The new bridge is an important part of the Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative.
VicRoads Project director Frank De Santis said starting works on the bridge was a significant step towards making it easier for people to move around central Dandenong.
“George Street currently runs from Swords Street to Robinson Street, Dandenong. The project will see George Street extended to Cheltenham Road via the new bridge, which will span the railway line and Foster Street,” Mr De Santis said.
