STUDENTS all over the City of Greater Dandenong are revelling after receiving their VCE marks- a signal of the completion of 12 hard years of work.
Two Haileybury Keysborough students received scores to place them in the top .05 per cent of students in the state.
School vice-captain Duncan Wallace and Jeremy William both achieved the highest possible enter score of 99.95 in the VCE.
Haileybury’s principal Derek Scott said the results were outstanding and a reflection of Haileybury’s unique three-year VCE program.
“Our students have benefited greatly from the unique program we have put together here at Haileybury,” he said.
Principal at Lighthouse Christian College (LCC) Tim Rogers was also pleased with his students’ results.
He said out of the 25 year 12 students at the Christian college, all completed their VCE certificates and 20 were eligible for an ENTER score. The top five students obtained scores of 95.3, 94.1, 91.05, 90.9 and 90.25.
The college dux studied English, accounting certificate three in Christian ministry, chemistry, maths methods and specialist maths and is looking forward to attending Melbourne University to study commerce.
Twenty-five per cent of year 12 LCC students ranked in the top 10 per cent of the state.
Seventy-five per cent ranked in the top 30 per cent of the state achieving an ENTER score of about 70, and 90 per cent of the students ranked 50 per cent and above in the state.
“Considering that a significant number of our students come from migrant and English as a second language backgrounds, the attainment levels are very impressive,” Mr Rogers said.
“A new culture of industry and collaborative study techniques is paying dividends.”
