Lighthouse a beacon

By Bridget Cook
MANY local high achievers had plenty of reasons to celebrate on Monday after receiving their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
While students across the state received their ATAR scores on Monday, many Greater Dandenong students were looking forward to a bright future after 12 years of hard work.
Lighthouse Christian College, Keysborough, assistant principal Avril Howard said the school was absolutely delighted with the results this year.
The school had a 100 per cent success rate in terms of students getting a Year 12 pass.
The school also had 20 per cent of its Year 12 students get ATAR scores which ranked in the top eight per cent of the state.
An improvement from last year, eight per cent of students had a study score of more than 40 in some subjects.
Ms Howard said she couldn’t be more pleased.“We started the year off with a motto that students aim high and do their very best,” she said. “And I believe we achieved that. It’s a combination of the hard work or teaching staff, the students’ hard work and motivation levels and reasonable class sizes.”
Some of the school’s top ranked students included Levi Truong (far left)who received 95.15, Michael Chau (middle) who received 95.85, Rowena Lor who received 82.5 and Ninita Britto (right) who received 81.75.
Levi has been awarded a prestigious ‘Excellence and Equity’ scholarship at Monash University.
