NOBLE Park has extended its winning streak to five after an eight-wicket win in Saturday’s Twenty20 against Croydon at Croydon Oval.
Rizan Mawzoon (3/11) set the tone early, allowing only 11 runs from his four overs that eventually restricted Croydon to 7/124 after 20 overs.
The game was eventually put to rest by Marasinghe Perera who smacked 64 runs from 44 balls to give Noble Park the victory with three overs left in the bag.
The second XI also tasted victory, restricting Croydon to 7/98 before stealing a five-wicket win in the final over at Pat Wright Snr Oval.
Noble Park’s third string team played the curtain raiser to the first XI but could not make it a clean sweep on the day.
Batting first it was well positioned at 4/120 after 20 overs but Croydon was too strong, passing the total with 14 balls left.
The fourth XI was meant to be the seconds’ pre-game entertainment, but there was nothing entertaining about Noble Park’s batting, with only 74 runs from 20 overs, 67 runs short of Croydon’s first innings total.
