PEOPLE can have a ball at a number of venues across the City of Greater Dandenong at the Multicultural Tennis Come ‘n’ Try Day this weekend.
The City of Greater Dandenong and Tennis Victoria are holding the events at a number of tennis clubs across the city between 11am and 1pm on Sunday.
The free event offers people the opportunity to have fun – as well as to try a new sport.
Everyone, no matter their age, ability or background, can go along and have a hit.
A number of tennis programs and activities, as well as giveaways and food, will be available.
Greater Dandenong mayor Roz Blades said the council was delighted to offer the opportunity to support people from culturally and linguistically diverse groups to try sports they may not be familiar with.
“We want to help those who have limited opportunities to participate in tennis activities,” she said.
“Tennis is a very popular sport in Australia and it is often played as a recreational activity with friends and family.
“Whatever your age or skill level, you can participate in organised competitions as well as social games at various clubs throughout our city.
“Council has long recognised that participating in a sport helps people to improve their health, build confidence and self-esteem, as well as to connect with their community.”
The Multicultural Tennis Come ‘n’ Try Day events will be held at Burden Park Tennis Club, Burden Park Reserve, Olympic Avenue Springvale South, Noble Park Tennis Club, Parkfield Reserve, 46 Ellendale Road Noble Park and South Springvale Tennis Club, Mackay Street, Springvale South.
Memberships and casual tennis registrations will be available.
