THE local Cambodian community has opened its hearts – and their wallets – to help raise funds for flood victims.
The Cambodian Association of Victoria presented a cheque for $4200 and the Bright Moon Buddhist Temple, in Springvale, presented an $11,400 cheque to Greater Dandenong mayor Roz Blades last month.
The money will go to the Municipal Association of Victoria’s flood appeal.
Cr Blades said the Greater Dandenong Council had requested that the funds be donated to the Gannawarra Shire Council, as they are colleague councils.
Cr Blades thanked the two organisations for their support.
“Thanks very much for rolling up your sleeves, recognising the need and fundraising,” she said.
