THE Sandown Cobras and Parkmore Pirates Junior Football Clubs will join forces to create the Parkmore Cobras in the South East Juniors under-17s competition.
The move is to create a pathway for junior players, all the way from Auskick to the senior football ranks for the Cobras.
While remaining separate clubs, they will work together to build a pathway for players to integrate from juniors to seniors.
The partnership between the two clubs aims to develop more junior footballers for Parkmore and to lead them to under-18s football and beyond for Sandown Cobras.
Sandown Cobras chairman Kevin O’Byrne said they looked forward to a “long and successful partnership between the two clubs”.
Parkmore Junior Football Club vice president Michael Palma said the new entity will help bridge the gap between senior and junior football in the area.
“It was felt that there was a gap at this age level,” Palma said.
“We are extremely excited about the creation of this new team, which will provide great opportunities to junior players within our regions, and which will be supported by both clubs. We do not under estimate the enormity of what we are undertaking, however we are confident that it can be achieved”.
