Role models for dedication

By CASEY NEILL

NOBLE Park Rotary Club has recognised five local high school students for their dedication to study and commitment to their community.
It presented the annual Arthur Williams Junior Citizenship Awards earlier this month in front of the winners’ parents and teachers.
The Rotarian who the award is named after championed and encouraged the efforts of youths within the community, and his son John presented the students with their certificates.
Noble Park Secondary College, Nazareth College, Haileybury, and Keysborough College’s Acacia and Banksia campuses were invited to nominate a student from Year 10 or 11 for the honour, which recognises involvement in school activities and the wider community.
Noble Park principal Pam Dyson said Kynan Wilcox was an outstanding all-rounder, hardworking and confident.
“He’s a delightful young man,” she said.
“He’s a wonderful role model to our younger students.
“It’s refreshing to be able to recognise the wonderful things our young people are doing.”
Kynan, 16, has lived in Noble Park all his life and is a member of Noble Park Cricket Club and the Dingley and Sandringham baseball clubs.
He received a Year 8 excellence award, a prudence award in a maths competition and was in the Year 9 high achievers’ program.
He’s now in Year 11 and the school vice-captain, studies Year 12 physical education and aspires to study physiotherapy at Monash University.
“It’s an honour to receive the award,” he said.
James Real and Mei Mei Bun from Keysborough College, Sarah Joseph from Nazareth College and Isabella Conte from Haileybury were the other winners for exceptional involvement in sports, home duties and scholastic ability.
